Our little gym in our condo is rather interesting. We have a nice variety of cardio machines - a couple of treadmills, two eliptical trainers…and a recumbent exercycle.
Yeah. I’m still not sure how I feel about this thing.
It’s an odd feeling to be sitting back at such a weird angle. First of all, I find it difficult to really get a good pounding RPM going when I don’t have that leverage that I’m used to. Secondly…it just feels…wrong. Like Cin should be standing over my left shoulder, feeding me figs and grapes and fanning me with a huge palm frond.
Ooh, there’s a good visual - gonna have to save that one for later…
{ahem}
Anywhoooo…what with the previously mentioned problems with my foot, I’m kind of restricted in what I can attempt to do for endurance training. Therefore, I’ve had to suck it up and put on my big girl panties…regardless of how much I feel like Christopher Walken in Brainstorm…and try to make this a positive experience.
This evening’s workout - 30 minutes, 8 miles, average speed of 14.1 mph, max speed of 18.9 mph (I tried doing some wind sprints on this thing, and it actually worked!), average heart rate of 131, max rate of 146 (still can’t get my heart rate as high on this as I can on my regular road bike), 487 calories burned with 45% of that from fat.
I miss running. Sigh.
11 days until my first 5K since my triathlon in August. I have a sneaking suspicion that I’ll be doing splits on this run thanks to this damn toe, but I’ll be buggered if I’m going to walk the whole damn thing. I’ve recovered from worse in 11 days. Hopefully this constant soaking in epsom salts will solve the problem, or at least allow me to run through the pain.
